Can you believe Regatta is just around the corner?
Last year, we introduced a new tradition: Boys and Girls Canoe Handling on the Friday before Regatta. We’re excited to continue it this year, with the event starting at 9:00 AM sharp on Friday, July 25th. Points earned will count towards overall Regatta score.
Participants must be 8 years of age or older. If your child would like to take part, please sign them up via Wild Apricot (link below). We will be printing the attendance list at 8:45 AM tomorrow morning, so please ensure your child is registered before then.
This event is completely optional!
When registering on Wild Apricot, please make sure to enter the child(ren)’s name, not the parent’s name, as it is the child who will be participating in the event.
Winners of the Boys and Girls Canoe Handling events will be announced during the Regatta Awards Ceremony on the evening of Saturday, July 26th.
Participants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Properly launching the canoe
Staying balanced and steady
Paddling straight and consistently toward the buoy
Effective paddling on one side
Smooth and controlled turns
Execution of proper technique (J-stroke and C-stroke)
Controlled and safe landing
Safe canoe exit
